Carla Ralston, EA — coordinating the whole practice.

Carla Ralston is a Shelbyville native. In 1997 she began Bookkeeping Plus from her home with a handful of tax returns and a straightforward promise: get the numbers right, and treat every business owner like a neighbor.
Client by client, the work grew. Bookkeeping followed the returns. Payroll followed the bookkeeping. Sales-tax filings, business filings and year-round planning followed the payroll. In 2009 the firm moved into its current office on North Main Street — and Carla built the year-round team that stands behind the practice today.
What began with a few tax returns is now a coordinated financial operations partner for businesses across Middle Tennessee.
Five commitments that make Bookkeeping Plus more than a bookkeeper or a seasonal tax office.

The Plus is Business Insight
Accurate books become a tool for pricing, cash flow and margin decisions.
You didn't plan to become a payroll processor or a sales-tax specialist. These are the moments most owners call us.
Payroll has become difficult to manage
Sales-tax filings are becoming more complex
Tax season requires too much cleanup
The owner no longer trusts the monthly reports
The business has entered new jurisdictions
A lender is requesting stronger financials
Revenue is growing, but cash is still tight
You need more support without hiring an internal accounting team
We work as an extension of your operation — so the books, the payroll, the filings and the planning all point in the same direction.
Every client works with a specialist in each area — coordinated across tax, bookkeeping, payroll and client service.

Middle Tennessee industries have their own reporting quirks. We stay close to the ones we know.
Sales-tax cycles, inventory posting, seasonal payroll patterns.
Fuel and mileage reporting, IFTA-adjacent filings, driver payroll.
Tip reporting, occupancy considerations, high-turnover payroll.
Excise-related documentation, jurisdiction-specific filings.
Multi-state exposure, contractor vs. employee classification.
Occupancy tax, seasonal cash flow, hospitality payroll.
